dress - burda 10/2014, #127

finally found the right backdrop for this dress,
that was actually cut last year
and sewed back in february
and worn only once
..
looks like a nice dress, right?
you would never know the horrors i have to go trough
in order to get into it..
i was in a rush when sewing it
so to speed things up a bit, skipped adding zipper or any type of closure..
turns out that my head is kind of too big for the neckline
(should have anticipated that, my head is kind of too big for lot of stuff
which is why i have to buy my hats on boys department)
and i'm kind of too lazy to fix it
(plus, i've made the most beautiful stitching on that neckline
i can't bring myself to rip it apart)..
but i guess i'll eventually have to fix it
as i really really love this dress
and it deserves to be worn more often
..
pics are taken by my lovely friend tea..
few weeks ago we unexpectedly ended up spending
few fun and crazy days in croatia
on beautiful island of brac
(might write a post about that adventure, eventually)
..

..
i've even managed to find a pic of us together
so you don't think i'm making this all up..
plus, this pic shows that i indeed do smile
(i just happen to be born with resting bitch face)
..
if you wanna read more about tea's dress
hop on over to her space

  3. It's a gorgeous dress,a nd what beautiful scenery!! Sometimes a dress is well worth a small struggle getting it on and off, if the fabric is that lovely :)

  4. Such a beautiful dress! I hate fixing things too, would often rather move on to the next project instead. However, it would really be worth fixing this one so you can get in on off easily because you'd get so much wear out of it this summer!

    1. took me a while to find the right dress pattern for the fabric.. it's really a huge print, and cutting it would ruin the whole thing.. this way, print is the star (in my eyes, at least)

  8. Haha, I don't just love the stuff you make and the pictures of it, I also highly appreciate the way you write. So good!
I, on the other hand, can fit my head into my 14months (!) old daughters hats. World is so unfair, huh!? So may I suggest, you send your dress to me. I'm sure I could wriggle my head through the hole ;) Just kidding. Go ahead and make a little opening in the back!

  9. love that big print … the perfect beach dress! now go and fix it caouse it would be too bad having the nekcline ruined ... and as Anne said a little opening in the back would be enough.
ps. as I am writing this I am sitting in a bar making a cappuccino last till the awful storm outside passes, my pants are wet to my calves and seeing sun, sea and beautiful beaches is surely not helping my mood

    1. hehe, know what you mean.. it's a rainy day here too (well, rainy week more), and there is nothing i would like more than being at that seaside instead of here :)

  13. Its stunning! I hope you have managed to wear it loads-if you're still stuck couldn't you just unpick one of the shoulder seams slightly (as youve already got the seam allowance there) and pop in a little button and thread loop on the neckline edge?
