lace accents

top - neue mode, 04/1981
(also used here)

lace is so not my thing..
i've never actually made anything from lace fabric..
have used lace trim a few times, though
but that's as far as i would usually go
even when it comes to undergarments
..
but then i found piece of this black mesh lace
and i just had to have it
..
of course, even though i really loved the fabric
i couldn't bring myself to sew something
entirely out of lace
(and this way i get to use the fabric
for several more projects)

  2. The lace works - it doesn't feel too girly with that cozy sweater knit!

    1. thanks, ginger.. i like how you said - i don't like lace for myself, i totally agree with that.. i love the way lace dresses look on other people, but if i try wearing one, i feel ridiculous in it :) but small patches of lace i can do :)

  4. It looks great! I think it all depend on how much lace to use for a project. In this case, it's just the right amount/placement. Lovely!

    1. thanks.. yeah, it's a sweater knit.. a bit pain in the ass to work with, as it unravels a lot (but great to wear, and machine washable too)

    1. i actually got the idea when i saw my friends top that she bought recently (also, i only had 1m of sweater fabric, so there wasn't enough for whole sweater to be made out of it, and i had to be creative)..

  10. Very cool. I personally like lace but I've only sewn with a mesh lace once. Love that jacket, too!
