rooftops

dress and top - self made
skirt - sun skirt

yes, these are some silly photos,
but we just couldn't be serious for one second..
and how can one be serious
standing barefoot on a rooftop
'modeling'
and in my case holding a stone in palm (why?!)
..
i always feel really awkward taking pics
and hate every second of it
but, damn, clothes look way better on a human
than on a hanger or a dress form
so i keep on taking pics anyways
..
and because i made these two garments
using the same fabrics and piping
and they are similar in style
i figured it would be the best to picture them together
so i asked my friend sandra to model the top
..
dress is from october issue of burda
and top/sweater or whatever one wanna call it
is made using pattern from neue mode magazine
(from april of 1981)
both are made out of same wool
and with silver faux leather piping
..

  1. OMG .. these pictures are works of art.. they might as well be part of an exhibition! The silverish grey colour of the clothes the shiny silver piping and the futuristc sporty cut create such a contrast with the background and everything else … it’s almost surrealistic! You cannot but wonder who are those two cool girls .. where do they come from !!!

  4. I've been thinking about making this dress from Burda and oh boy, I'm so convinced now that I need it!... *^o^* I love you choice of fabric and piping, it looks so comfy. The top is nice too, does it have sleeves from different fabric?
When I'm nervous I always feel more at ease holding onto something, maybe you felt relaxed posing for photos with a stone hidden in your hand? *^v^*

    1. thanks.. piing really inspired the look, and i love the dress so much (and it's so comfy) that i'll have to make another version.. yup, top sleeves are made from thick cotton jersey, cause i run out of wool, but the color is almost the same, and i loved the way two fabrics looked together..
your theory sound quite possible.. frankly, i don't even remember picking up that stone, just saw it when i saw the pictures.. i felt so irrationally awkward taking pics, and at the same time it was really fun and all i could do was to laugh all the time..

  6. You hate modeling? You always have the best poses, though! And this post is no exception. I always look forward to seeing your outfits.

    1. boy do i hate it.. i feel a little less awkward when i take pics on my own using a tripod (and as far away from people as possible), and i'm quite horrible in posing because i really dunno what to do, how to stand or where to look.. i love photographing others, though, would love to have someone to model the clothes, so i don't have to

  8. The rock! Ha! I think the photos are cute :) The sweatshirt dress is fabulous. I've been looking for a similar pattern (I want one like this but with dolman sleeves). Too bad I didn't renew my Burda subscription.
