dress - burda 09/2012, #107
made this dress back in november
but it took me ages to take pics
(even those crappy phone ones)
..
had only 1.1m of fabric
and somehow squeezed dress out of that..
i managed to make front symmetric
back is a mess
but i can live with that
..
dunno what the fabric is supposed to be used for
wouldn't be surprised if it's upholstery
it's quite stiff..
but i loved the print
(and it hides seams pretty well..
so you don't get to see my freestyle back double pointed darts
that are everything but symmetric)
..
mokosha
taj materijal je fenomenalan! haljina odlicno izgleda, i uzivo i na fotkama ;)
ReplyDelete:) dajem joj jos 7 dana u cumicu, ako je niko ne usvoji, vracam je u svoj orman
DeleteThe fabric is crazy (and fun!), you look like constantly moving when I look at that pattern! *^v^*
ReplyDeleteit is a totally crazy fabric, too bad i could not find mor of it (would make a great blazer i think)
DeleteSuch a fun print! Love this dress on you, looks great!
ReplyDeletethanks, lisa.. i still have to learn how to wear dresses so short, they require some lady manners, and i'm more like a lumberjack than a lady :) so leggings are mandatory
Deletehey man, when you have limited precious, the back is secondary! i love those swirls up the front, you're like a walking escher...
ReplyDelete:) walking escher would be so much better title for this post
DeleteI looove the black and white graphic print of the fabric and the silhouette is perfect for it. I like what you call “messiness” at the back - It’s like the front is so controlled with the perfect pattern placement the back needed to be more “rebellious” ;)
ReplyDeletei actually chose this dress pattern, as it shows off the fabric really well (at front that is, because there is no vertical seams to mess with it).. love how you call the back 'rebellious' hehe
DeleteThis print is wonderful! I can't stop staring at it :) I love it when I manage to squeeze something great out of little fabric, and you sure did it!
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's the best feeling ever.. and the reason why i have ton of shorts (as they only use 40-50cm of fabric)
DeleteReally nice dress! It fits you perfectly.
ReplyDeletethanks.. took me a bit to get there, original pattern has no back shaping at all
DeleteAgree with Sasha, can't really notice the messiness, the fabric is so psychedelic that covers any print misplacement. Would love to see this dress in B&W photos!!
ReplyDeleteyeah, b&w photos would be great (and slightly better ones that these messy phone photos)..
DeletePrint placement shmacement, that shape is fabulous on you! x
ReplyDeletethanks :) i've never really wore this silhouette before, so it takes some getting used to
DeleteThe fabric is amazing! You ended up with the prettiest dress!
ReplyDeletethanks, inna
DeleteOh, I love this! gorgeous print and shape on you. I think would like one just like it!
ReplyDeletethanks, carolyn.. i wonder what fabric would you chose for your version :)
DeleteMakes my eyes go crazy in a good way! xoxo
ReplyDeletehehe, yeah it is quite psychedelic
DeleteWhoa! This looks great! The fit is perfect! I've never managed to really fit a shift or sheath dress... I need to give it another go. I want a dress exactly like this! You look awesome!
ReplyDeletethanks, sonja! i think this pattern is a great starting point for good shift or sheath dress.. front works just find, back has no shaping, but you can do what i did - add two double pointed darts to get it fit you the way it should (advice - find an assistent, or you'll have to do some silly yoga moves to pin those darts yourself)
DeleteGreat dress! The print is amazing, and almost looks alive and moving.
ReplyDeletethanks :) glad that you like it
DeleteThis fabric is amazing! Good job squeezing a dress out of a tiny amount!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a stunning dress ♥
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric! I´m into geometrics at the moment... I can´t recognise the pattern, must check it out.
ReplyDeleteLooking as chic as usual!
