sage

blouse - burda 10/2014, #128
pants - burda 7/2011, #102

having a love hate relationship with this blouse..
love the color and shape of it
love the elbow dart too
(it makes sleeves way more comfy,
i wonder why is it so rare to see those darts in patterns nowadays)
..
don't mind that neckline is that deep
as long as i don't wear it to play pool, i'll be fine
(and i can always move snaps up a little bit, and make it more modest)
but what does bother me
is that it's so damn hard to iron the blouse well
this rayon fabric wrinkles in no time
..
also, shoulders ended up looking a bit funky in pics
but that's more due to my bad ironing than pattern issues
..
what i really hate is how short it turned out at front..
and i should see that coming
pattern i used is dress pattern actually
but i used only bodice parts
i've changed the back, and made it longer
so it can be tucked into pants,
but i was too lazy to figure out how to modify the front
end ended up with too short blouse
and that silly strip of belly showing when i move
(well.. these pics were shot back in november
in the meantime
i realized i can wear camisole underneath blouse to prevent that)

  1. Love the color and the neckline of the blouse! I agree that the length would bug me too! Wear it with a pencil skirt that sits at your natural waist and it will be perfect!

    1. thanks.. that may be the solution (might need to sew that skirt first, as the only one i have is bright red, and would look horrible with this blouse)

    1. thanks.. fabric look even more crisp when ironed properly (and then loses all that crispiness an hour after you start wearing it hehe)

    1. thanks, lisa.. rayon is my favorite fabric usually, it's just that this one is a bit more wrinkly (or maybe i can notice those wrinkles more since it's a solid fabric, i usually go for patterns, so it's not that easy to see the wrkinles)

  7. I agree with everyone else, the colour and neckline is really lovely on you! Maybe just wear it with a highwaisted skirt or pants if it feels too short? :)

    1. thanks, carolyn.. i agree, that is the best way to wear it, and i need a hightwaisted pants (and shorts, of course), so maybe now i'll have one more reason to sew them finally :)

    1. burda often has those darts in dress patterns, not only vintage ones, but modern ones too.. but i've only made them once before (and not for me, it was a dress i made for a friend, so i did not know what difference that little dart makes.. now that i know, i might try sewing more patterns with that little dart.. or altering regular sleeves to incorporate the dart)

  15. With the camisole there won't be any issues with low neckline and short front, only the hard-to-iron fabric remains and I guess it cannot be helped. *^v^* Nice colours, I like them!

    1. hehe yeah.. that's the issue i have with all my clothes though, even easy-to-iron one, since i have ironing with passion

  16. The color is gorgeous. Wearing it with something high waisted would solve the short issue. Can't help with the ironing, though! I am allergic to ironing myself. :)
